As in Zuma, Zuma Revenge main Goal! is to clear the ball rolling string, or 'stone', with the balls of the same color match. Players move the Ball-Shooting frog who always point towards the mouse to aim and fire the ball on a string. When three or more balls of the same color fit together, they are cleared from the playfield. This creates a gap in the clearing where the player can shoot the ball on a string nearby, target bonus fruit, and 'power up' stone. Gap closes automatically if the ball on both ends of the gap being the same color, potentially creating a chain reaction of matching and clearing a new set of three or more is formed. In every mode except Challenge mode, players must achieve a common pathway to achieve "Zuma", at which point the game stops adding balls to the string (s). Players then have to remove all the remaining balls from the playfield to move on to the next level. In Challenge mode, players have three minutes to score as many points as possible, collect powerups that increase his score multiplier along the way.
